Our Decorex Joburg 2026 Experience: Showcasing What’s Possible with Porcelain

Decorex Joburg 2026 was an exciting milestone for SA Stone Studio. This year, we had the opportunity to exhibit our Italian porcelain slab collection and create a stand that allowed visitors to see the material not just as a slab, but as part of a finished space.

From 30 July to 2 August, we welcomed architects, designers, fabricators, homeowners and industry professionals to our stand at the Sandton Convention Centre. Over the four days, we had the chance to showcase the versatility of large-format porcelain while meeting some of the people behind the projects, ideas and spaces being created across the country.

Designed to show what’s possible

When designing our stand, we wanted to move beyond simply displaying slabs. We wanted visitors to see how large-format porcelain can be used throughout a space and how different applications can come together to create a finished design.

We wanted Decorex to be the first introduction to two of the newest colours in our Italian collection: Stormy Onyx and Sassi di Matera.. It felt like the perfect opportunity to showcase them and give visitors the chance to experience them in a real space rather than simply seeing them as samples.

Stormy Onyx exterior

From the moment visitors approached the stand, Stormy Onyx was part of the experience. Stormy Onyx made a statement across the exterior, drawing attention to the stand before visitors even stepped inside.

Sassi di Matera interior

The interior was almost entirely cladded in Sassi di Matera, creating a warm, immersive environment and demonstrating the impact of large-format porcelain across walls and architectural surfaces.

Waterfall Legs Detail

The waterfall legs showed how porcelain could be taken beyond a simple flat surface and used to create more sculptural, dimensional elements. The slatted design, made up of individual porcelain sections, created depth and texture across the sides of the islands. The arrangement added a strong architectural element while showcasing the versatility of porcelain and the distinctive design features that can be achieved with it.

Rotating display

We incorporated a rotating display featuring a selection of colours from our Italian collection. This gave visitors the opportunity to explore different patterns, colours and finishes up close and see the variety within the collection for themselves.

Seeing Invisacook in action

One of the highlights of the stand was our live Invisacook demonstrations.

For many visitors, it was an opportunity to see induction cooking technology integrated beneath a porcelain countertop for the first time. Rather than simply explaining how it works, we could demonstrate it live and show how seamlessly the technology can be incorporated into a kitchen surface while maintaining a clean, uninterrupted finish.

The demonstrations sparked plenty of interest and conversations around the possibilities of combining technology, functionality and design without compromising the look of a space.

More than just the stand

While the stand itself was an important part of the experience, what made Decorex particularly memorable for us was everything that happened around it.

We had the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new industry professionals and speak with people from different parts of the country about the projects they are working on.

There were conversations about kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, commercial spaces and new ways of using large-format porcelain. We also had the chance to hear directly from people about what they look for when selecting materials and the challenges they face when bringing a design from an idea to a finished space.

Bringing the vision to life

A stand like this doesn't come together without the people behind it.

We would also like to thank Krijnauw for the exceptional joinery and cabinetry that helped bring our vision to life and allowed visitors to experience our porcelain in a complete, considered space.

Looking ahead

Decorex Joburg 2026 gave us the opportunity to step back from the showroom and put our collection into a real-world setting - showing not only what our porcelain looks like, but what can be achieved with it.

We left feeling inspired by the people we met, the conversations we had and the projects taking shape across the industry.

While Decorex may be over, the conversations certainly aren't.
